Rosedale

Smithsfalls, Ontario

The owners of Rosedale wanted their stone farmhouse restored as a beautiful, functional home, and undertook the significant challenge of fully renovating both the house and the surrounding gardens. The project included rethinking the flow of the interior and developing a cohesive design for the outdoor living spaces.

With both owners working from home, it was important that each person had a dedicated office suited to their occupation, including space for additional audio‑visual equipment. The existing brick extension was reimagined with a new kitchen on the ground floor and an audio/visual studio in a loft above. A new stair layout connects the two levels, with the loft open to the kitchen below. A quieter office was placed adjacent to the studio for focused work or video calls.

The renovation brings together improved circulation, updated program layout and thoughtful integration of new spaces with the historic farmhouse, creating a home that supports everyday living while preserving its rural character.
