This project is located in the remote Cree community of Whapmagoostui on Hudson Bay. The clients requested a multigenerational, high‑performance residence that could support extended family living and operate efficiently in a harsh northern climate. The design needed to balance durability, energy performance and practical everyday use, while responding to the logistical challenges of building in an isolated community.

Project scheduling was coordinated around the seasonal ice break, allowing a supply ship to deliver all required materials during a narrow window. Construction timing was similarly limited, requiring clear detailing and a straightforward assembly strategy. The home uses an ICF foundation and OS Blocks on the exterior walls to create a durable, well‑insulated envelope suited to extreme weather.

As the firm is not licensed in Quebec, detailed design drawings were provided and the local contractor obtained the required permit. The result is a resilient, multigenerational home shaped by climate, community needs and the realities of northern construction.
